Production Operator
Run and maintain the equipment that prints, inserts and finishes millions of mail pieces a week.
About The Role
Our production floor runs around the clock, handling everything in house from printing through USPS® handoff. As an Operator, you run and maintain the machinery that produces our direct mail, keeping it at expected run speeds and quality. Operators also pitch in on Production Support as needed. This role requires relevant prior machine operating or production experience.
What You’ll Do
- Run equipment at expected speed outputs while holding to quality standards
- Perform machine setups by product type, following company procedures
- Fix, adjust, and perform preventive maintenance on machinery when possible
- Sort finished product to USPS® regulations: sort, tie, and tray
- Rotate to other equipment or work stations as the production schedule requires
- Read and follow production job sheets, completing work in the order given
- Stock machines, tag trays, and help with hand fulfillment and non-machinable work
- QC, package, and ship packages, and keep the floor organized and clean
- Log daily progress and send an end-of-day report
Quality Standards
- Follow company quality control standards and Standard Operating Procedures
- Get sign-off from a Shift Supervisor or Lead Operator before running a live job
- Detect and report defective materials or copy, correct any misruns, and submit stamps for refund
What You Bring
- Relevant prior machine operating or production experience
- Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn and keep learning
- Initiative, teamwork, and the ability to work independently
- Reliability: on time and ready for every shift
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to act quickly when a problem arises
- Strict adherence to process and Standard Operating Procedures
Physical Requirements
- Regularly communicate and exchange information with co-workers and supervisors
- Detect and report defective copy and material
- Constantly operate print and mailing preparation machinery
- Constantly position yourself to keep the workflow moving, including moving prepress and completed mailing copy
- Constantly stand, and lift objects up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable around machine vibrations, moving mechanical parts, and a loud work environment
